Project Implicit

This less than 10-min test can tell you whether you are racist, have preference for people of different age, your sexuality, religion and etc.
--- The IAT was originally developed as a device for exploring the unconscious roots of thinking and feeling. This web site has been constructed for a different purpose -- to offer the IAT to interested individuals as a tool to gain greater awareness about their own unconscious preferences and beliefs.
Many years ago, Fyodor Dostoyevsky wrote: "Every man has reminiscences which he would not tell to everyone but only his friends. He has other matters in his mind which he would not reveal even to his friends, but only to himself, and that in secret. But there are other things which a man is afraid to tell even to himself, and every decent man has a number of such things stored away in his mind."
These lines from Dostoyevsky capture two concepts that the IAT helps us examine. First, we might not always be willing to share our private attitudes with others. Second, we may not be aware of some of our own attitudes. Your results on the IAT may include both components of control and awareness. ---

Su Doku

The numbers puzzle: a grid of nine rows by nine, split into nine boxes, with each containing nine squares.
How to play: To fill in the grid so that every row, every column, and every box contains the digits one to nine exactly once.

Daily Telegraph: http://www.sudoku.org.uk/
Daily Sudoku: http://www.griffiths-jones.co.uk/sudoku/
Sudoku.com: http://www.sudoku.com
Those in grey means they are the empty boxes you we have to fill in. Notice that every row and every column will have number one to nine, without repeating.

Ever felt dumped

I saw photo of Colin Firth drenched in coffee in either the Star newspaper or maybe the Cleo couple of days ago. It was part of the Oxfam campaigns asking for users to support fair trade. Other than Firth, we have Antonio Banderas and Alanis Morissette.
I would think the ad was quite a success. I mean, how can you not notice if a few famous people started being poured by stuffs all over them?

From what I gathered, there's a huge different between what we paid for a jar of coffee and the amount the farmers received for their beans. Thus giving huge profit to coffee giants, like Nestle. Wow! It never crossed my mind that the coffee in Starbucks and Coffee Beans may be overpriced. I do think that they are expensive but never thought the farmers are underpaid for their growth. It's not only coffee...there's other items like wheat, sugar, rice and etc...

So, let's make a difference. Join the Big Noise now.

Which Care Bear Am I?

Friend Bear
You are everyone's ideal friend because you are sincere and genuinely kind. Sometimes you worry about your friends' problems so much, you forget about your own responsibilities, which can get you into trouble. For you, it's the little things that really count. You also happen to be the main driver of the Cloud Car. No speeding!

Night-view of Western Japan

My cousin sent me this link. I find it pretty fun. If you are bored to death, you can always check this out. I am not sure how 'live' this thing is.

My make-up view

Most people would want to have a room which will give them an overall view of the city. It makes them feel on-top-of-the-world, it makes them feel powerful.
For me, I would prefer to have a balcony view of snow-covered mountain. The sky will be blue ... with eagles spreading their wings. Then at the side of the room will have a door leading to a hot spring...surrounded by beautiful cherry blossoms. There will be clogs waiting at the side with a nicely folded white towel on the stone-floor.
Outside the small-comfy house will be a bicycle...maybe with a basket parked at the porch. No car. Yup, just a bicycle. At the side of the porch, there will be a small little garden with orchids hanging around. The floor will be covered with taiwanese grass and white daisies here and there. Maybe include a seater for light reading under the fine weather.
Hrmmnnn.....

Gmail

I've just catched up with the trend - have gotten myself a Gmail. Yeah, the hoo and hah of internet mail. It was a present from an ex-boss who will be joining my company next month.
It was praises and praises from him - I just need to check it out myself now.

I saw this in someone's blog and find it pretty cute. Just look at the lopsided halo.

Once upon a time

A three-day opening celebration to mark the bicentenary of the birth of the Danish storyteller and poet Hans Christian Andersen.

Hans Christian Andersen brought us stories like The Princess and the Pea, Ugly Duckling and the famous, Emperor's New Clothes.
I am not really a fan of Hans, for which I prefer Aesop and Brothers Grimm. I am much more familiar with Cinderella (watched this with my then little cousin for almost everyday during my stay in Frankfurt), Sleeping Beauty, Red Riding Hood (I think I chose this story for a story-telling contest when I was about 8 or 9), Snow White ... not forgetting the 7 dwarfs, Rapunzel and Rumpelstiltskin.
